どんよりした感がクセになりそう
何かに執着するとそれ以外考えられない売れない同人誌作家の夫。むら気のある夫の顔色を窺いながら、何くれとなくサポートをする妻。これを愛と言うと、うっとおしいこと甚だしいのだが、そんな夫婦が描かれたタイトル作「玩具」は、著者と旦那様の吉村昭さんの物語のようにも思える。 暗く、どんよりとした作品集で、このどよ～んとした感覚がクセになりそう。女性の負の心理描写がとても上手いのだ。 新婚まもなく事故死してしまった夫への思い「白い壺」は、ラストシーンが強烈で記憶に残る作品。心穏やかな時に、他の作品も読んでみたい。【芥川賞】
