野球に関心がなくとも一読の価値あり。
王さんといえばルーツは「台湾｣だと思っていましたが、本当は｢大陸｣だったのですね。お父さんの仕福さんが日本にやってきたのが、中華人民共和国ができる前だったので国籍はそうなったのです。そんな、時代に翻弄されながらも一生懸命生きた王仕福さんの人生には心を打たれます。貧しい村で生まれ、父は自殺、母には捨てられ、一人で生きてきた仕福さんは、故郷には何も無かったのでしょう。身ひとつでやってきて、自分は字も書けなかったけど長男は医者に、末っ子は王貞治さんと、立派に日本に根を生やしました。しかし故郷への思いは？ 著者が調べなければ王家の人たちでさえ知らなかった事実。一人の中国人の生き様を描いた一冊です。野球好きでない方もどうぞ。
