Description
Founded in 1983 to mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of Osaka-born writer Oda Sakunosuke. From the 1st through the 22nd edition (2005), the award was a public-entry prize for unpublished short fiction. From the 23rd edition in 2006, it was restructured into a Grand Prize for published books and a Youth Prize open to writers aged 24 and under. The award is run by the Oda Sakunosuke Award Executive Committee, comprising the City of Osaka, the Osaka Literary Promotion Society, Kansai University, and the Mainichi Newspapers.
