Description
Academic award established in 1980 to commemorate Ishibashi Tanzan, the former chief editorial writer of Toyo Keizai Shimpo. Targets academic books and papers in social sciences such as political science, economics, sociology, and comparative culture, as well as humanities, with the aim of inheriting liberal, democratic, and pacifist thought. Works recommended by individuals from politics, business, academia, and media are selected, and the award ceremony is held every fall. Since 2008 (Heisei 20), a Newcomer Award for graduate students has also been established.
