Description
Established in 1957, it is the most traditional and authoritative tanka award as a non-open newcomer award. The winning work is selected by voting from Contemporary Tanka Poets Association members and deliberation by the selection committee from tanka collections published in the previous year by non-members and newcomers. Winners receive a certificate, 200,000 yen in prize money, and eligibility for membership in the Contemporary Tanka Poets Association.
