Description
Established in 2001 bearing the name of Yamamoto Kenkichi, it initially honored categories of haiku, tanka, poetry, criticism, and lyrics. From the 5th edition, the lyrics category was abolished; from the 11th edition, the tanka and poetry categories were abolished; and starting with the 13th edition in 2014, it was renamed "Yamamoto Kenkichi Award" and became an award solely for haiku collections.
