Description

The Kodansha Essay Award was a literary award sponsored by Kodansha, established in 1985, targeting essays. Thereafter, it was announced once a year every September simultaneously with the Kodansha Nonfiction Award, and winners were decided by consensus of the selection committee. Winners received a commemorative item as the main prize and 1 million yen (as of 2015) as the special prize, but it ended with the 2018 edition.
