Description
The Japan Art Academy Prize is one of the awards conferred by the Japan Art Academy to individuals other than its members. It is awarded to those who have created outstanding artistic works or contributed to the progress of art. The first award was presented as the "Imperial Art Academy Prize" in 1942, targeting the 1941 fiscal year. After an interruption starting from the 1944 fiscal year, it was renamed the Japan Art Academy Prize from the 1947 fiscal year and resumed awarding, continuing to the present.
